Cala Saona

Cala Saona

The beach of Cala Saona is in the western part of Formentera, a few kilometres south west of the capital city Sant Francesc Xavier, and it is to be numbered among the most beautiful and popular cities in the isle. Despite its small size –not more than 200 mt long and 140 mt wide- this beachfront is characterised by tranquillity and natural beauty. The outer area is surrounded by an enchanting woodland, the ideal place to have a walk and relax in the shade of a pine; the bay –with very thin sand- opens between two groups of red cliffs on a wonderful gulf, where the crystalline water becomes of a surprising intense blue. From the shore the view is really extraordinary: the peculiar light of this place and the contrast between the rocks and the colour of the water allow us to be involved in a picture-postcard landscape, which enables us to glimpse the lush hills of Ibiza and the coasts of two islands: Es Vedra' and Es Vedranell.
